Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary of what we collect, where it lives, and what you can ask us to do with it.

1. Who we are

Learnly is a UAE-based education team building an IGCSE mathematics practice platform for students, families, teachers, and institutes across the MENA region. Who builds Learnly, and where it stands.

2. What data we collect

Account information you provide (name, email, role, institute or class link if applicable), your practice attempts and answers, and telemetry events about how you interact with the platform (questions seen, hints used, time on task). We use this data to personalise practice and surface useful insights to your teachers, parents, and institute coordinators.

3. Where data is hosted

Currently hosted on Render Inc., in their Singapore region — that is where the application runs and where the database lives. Data residency in UAE/MENA is on our roadmap; we will notify institutes before any change to where their students' data lives.

4. Who can see your data

You can see your own activity. If you are linked to a teacher, parent, or institute coordinator, they can see practice progress and risk insights about you. Our team can access account data when needed to provide support, investigate abuse, or fix bugs. We do not sell your data, and we do not show third-party ads.

5. Sub-processors

We use a small number of third-party services to run the platform. These providers may process account or usage data on our behalf:

  • DeepSeek — AI question generation and marking. Processes question and answer content. Operated in the People's Republic of China.
  • Sentry — error monitoring. May receive technical and usage data (error reports, device and browser information) when the app encounters a problem.
  • SMTP email provider — transactional email delivery (verification, password reset, and parental-consent emails).
  • OpenAI — AI content generation and automated verification of question content. Processes question and answer content. Operated in the United States.
  • Anthropic — AI content generation for parts of the learning experience. Processes question and answer content. Operated in the United States.
  • Google Translate — on-the-fly translation of public page text, used only when you browse the public site in Arabic. Protected dashboards and account pages are excluded, so student names, progress and other signed-in content are not sent for translation. It is not used on the English site.
  • YouTube (Google) — embedded video inside some lessons. We use YouTube's no-cookie embed domain, so YouTube does not set advertising cookies unless you play a video.
  • Render — application hosting. Stores platform data in Render's Singapore region.

6. Children's data

Most of our users are school-age. Students under 18 require a parent or guardian's consent at signup: we email the parent a confirmation link, and the account cannot be used until consent is granted. When a student is enrolled through a school or institute, that institute's teachers and coordinators act as the data controllers for the student's practice data.

7. Your rights

You can request an export of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by emailing the support address below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and confirm when the request has been completed.

8. How long we keep data

We keep your account and practice data for as long as the account exists, so that progress and mastery history stay meaningful over time. We do not currently run an automatic deletion schedule. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data and practice history; anonymised, non-identifying counts may remain in aggregate statistics.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies needed to operate the site. These include an encrypted session cookie that keeps you signed in and a locale preference cookie that remembers the language selected for the site. Signing out removes the session cookie; the locale preference may remain so the site can keep your language choice. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Sentry processes limited technical and usage data for error monitoring as described above, not for advertising. Playing an embedded lesson video may set cookies from YouTube's no-cookie domain at that point.
